The 1993 Funeral of Cesar Chavez Fine Art Collection

As the sun rose over the San Joaquin Valley, a massive cortège consisting of Mexica (Aztec) Nobles, indigenous peoples, Californios and local Californians began funeral rites to prepare for the final walk with our fallen angel. As the massive gathering of sorrow carried mourning flags of black, white and red symbolizing the United Farm Workers Labor Union, a sense of optimism was in the air, a sense of community throughout the whole funeral procession. Afterwards, in the late afternoon sun, we were welcomed to eat carne asada tacos, drink soda and commune with a family we happened to pass by and actually only stopped because the matriarch smiled at us in an open green field park surrounded by multitudes of other families, enjoying the memory of Cesar and the vibe of our common culture in a peaceful, harmonious burial day in Delano, California.
